Aijamal is the UN Women Regional Project Coordination Specialist for Generation Equality for East and Southern Africa. Previously, she served as the Regional Communications Specialist for the same office. Her experience includes overseeing regional advocacy at the UN Women Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, managing partnerships, and engaging with key influencers. Aijamal also managed the UN Volunteers office in Laos and served as the Communications Officer for UNDP and the UN Resident Coordinator's Office. She has worked with the OSCE and Open Society Foundations, focusing on media development and human rights. Aijamal holds degrees from the American University of Central Asia and Central European University and is fluent in Russian, English, Kyrgyz, and Kazakh.
