Nolwazi Tusini

Nolwazi is an award-winning broadcast journalist, queer feminist, social justice activist and writer with a keen interest in media and narrative strategy. Before joining MDIF, Nolwazi served as Communications and Media manager and Acting Co-Director at Iranti, a human rights advocacy organisation that advocates for the advancement of the rights of LBQTI persons in Africa. Prior to her work in the non-profit sector, Nolwazi spent over a decade as a broadcast producer crafting radio and TV shows covering news and current affairs in South Africa and globally. She has led editorial teams at eNCA, 702, Power 98.7, and The Big Debate SA as an Executive Producer, Series Producer and Programme Editor. Nolwazi is also a columnist who has written on politics, current affairs, and the intersections of gender and race, for publications such as City Press and EWN. Nolwazi is a senior Atlantic Fellow for Racial Equity with Columbia University in New York and the Nelson Mandela Foundation in Johannesburg, and a Global Atlantic Fellow. She is also a Ruth First Scholar.
